Building Vellums: A Webflow Template for Creative Studios
We started working on a new Webflow template called Vellums, designed for creative studios, portfolio websites, creative agencies, design studios, and freelancers. The template was created to cover the main needs of modern creative agencies and design studios that need a strong online presence and want a ready-to-use website solution.
Vellums includes three separate Home Page versions with different section layouts. You can choose the version you like most, test all three versions, or combine sections from different versions to create the right Home Page for your content.
This approach makes it easier to test different layouts, save development time, and combine the sections you need into one complete website.
Webflow Template Structure and Client-First Methodology
A clean class system and Client-First methodology make it easy to scale the portfolio and adapt the template to different creative businesses.
Each page has a clear structure and easy-to-understand class names, so you can quickly find the section you need and make changes without unnecessary complexity.

Sections with multiple versions also have logical names such as hero_component_v1, hero_component_v2, and hero_component_v3. This makes it immediately clear which version of the section you are working with and where it is used.
Webflow Variables for Global Design Control
The Vellums template includes a flexible Webflow Variables system that makes it easier to update design styles across the entire website. We also created multiple typography variables to give users more control over the visual system.
The main design variables include:
- Colors
- Border Radius
- Spacing for margin and padding
- Gaps
For typography, all main text styles and headings from H1 to H6 can be controlled with variables for:
- Color
- Font Size
- Font Family
- Weight
- Line Height
- Letter Spacing

These variables make it possible to update the design from one place and apply the changes across the entire template. Working with typography also becomes easier because you can experiment with font sizes and styles across different breakpoints.
When needed, you can add new variables to the existing system and continue scaling the design system as your website grows.
Services CMS for Creative Agencies and Studios
Vellums includes two versions of the Services section to give you more flexibility when presenting your services.
The content is managed through a dedicated CMS Collection, with separate fields for each part of the service content. Creative agencies, design studios, and freelancers can easily add and manage the services they offer.

Each service can include up to three different images. This gives website owners an easy way to show different examples of their work and better present their skills.
You can also add:
- Service tags
- Service name
- Description
- Link to the dedicated service page
This structure keeps the section compact while still providing the main information visitors need.
When designing the Services CMS structure, we paid special attention to how modern creative agencies and digital studios present their services and work to potential clients.
Projects CMS for Creative Agency Portfolios
Another important CMS-powered section is Projects, which can be used for case studies and portfolio items.
The same CMS Collection is used across different page layouts, while the design of the section can change between pages. This gives you more flexibility and allows you to choose the layout that works best for your website.
For creative agencies and freelancers, the Projects Collection includes the main fields needed to display portfolio content:
- Project name
- Short description
- Tags
- Client company logo
- Client company name
- Short client description

Another version of the Projects section uses the same main fields but does not include client company information.
You can choose the version that fits your website best. This flexible portfolio structure works especially well for creative studio websites and portfolio websites where visual presentation and minimal design are important.
Reviews and FAQ Sections for SEO and AI Discoverability
Vellums includes two versions of the Reviews section. You can choose the layout you prefer or use different versions on different pages.

Client reviews can add trust and social proof to a website. They can also provide useful, structured information that AI systems may use when trying to understand a company, its work, and its client experience.
This approach is based on our own observations and testing at KEDD Design, where we have been experimenting with how structured website content can be understood by AI systems such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude.
Vellums also includes a dedicated FAQ section for questions and answers. It gives you another place to provide clear information about your services, process, expertise, and business.

Based on our observations, we recommend following several principles when building FAQ sections:
- The main FAQ section heading should use H2.
- Each question should use an H3 heading.
- Each answer should use Rich Text when additional formatting is needed, including bullet lists, numbered lists, quotes, or bold text.
- Where appropriate, use JSON-LD structured data to provide search engines with machine-readable information about the FAQ content.
This is how we approach content structure when building websites that need to work well for both SEO and AI discoverability.
We created Vellums as a flexible system for freelancers, independent experts, creative agencies, and studios that want to stand out through both thoughtful web design and a well-structured website.
Blog CMS for Creative Studios and Freelancers
Vellums also includes a dedicated Blog CMS Collection and a dynamic Blog Post page.
You can use it to publish articles, case studies, company news, or content related to your freelance work.
The CMS Collection includes the main fields needed to manage blog posts and publish new content.
Thanks to the Client-First methodology, you can easily scale the CMS Collections, add new fields, and expand the website structure as your content grows.
The clean architecture and Client-First standards provide a strong foundation for a long-term website in the creative services industry.
Essential Features of a Creative Studio Webflow Template
During the development of Vellums, we added features to each page that help present and organize different types of content.
The template is designed not only for creative studios but also for freelancers who want to build a professional portfolio website.
Key features include:
- Large headings for creating visual emphasis in service descriptions
- A moving text marquee after the first section
- Social media links and an owner image in the first section
- A moving project showcase with work images
- A structured Services section powered by CMS
- Meta Title, Description, and Open Graph settings
- Separate Title and H1 fields for dynamic pages
- A structured Projects section
- Reviews and FAQ sections for SEO and AI discoverability
- A step-by-step process section presented in a slider
- More than 15 additional content sections across three Home Page versions

The website architecture is well suited for professional portfolio websites and creative studio websites, where each project can help demonstrate the expertise and experience of the team.
Vellums: One of the Best Webflow Templates for Creative Studios
We adapted the Vellums structure for independent designers and freelancers who want to present their projects with a minimal and premium visual style. The template gives you enough flexibility to present your portfolio, highlight important content through typography, and create visual emphasis where it matters most.
Vellums can be considered one of the best Webflow templates for Creative Studios, design studios, and freelancers who need a flexible portfolio-focused website.
It works well for many types of creative teams and independent professionals. The content structure makes it possible to adapt the website for both small creative teams and larger design studios.
